Each year the Town of Matthews resurfaces neighborhood streets that are in need of repair.
This year the Town will resurface 18 streets including:
Rice Road, Tanfield Drive, Hadley Court, Woodbend Drive, Pearwood Court, Pinewood Hill Drive, Firewood Drive, Sweetgum Lane, Forest Wood Drive, Creekwood Court, Winter Wood Drive, Kale Wood Drive, Fence Post Lane, Bloom Wood Lane, Falkenburg Court, Bent Wood Court, Dark Wood Court and Blossom Wood Court.
Patching work will also be done on Moore Road, Winding Trail and Northeast Parkway.
Work will include installation of sidewalk handicap ramps, milling, patching, resurfacing and restriping of streets. The Town has contracted with Blythe Construction to do the work which will be done between October 8-November 27. Work will be done between Monday thru Friday, from 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. & Saturday, from 7:30 am - 7 p.m.
Residents are asked to please not park vehicles on the streets during this time & drive through the area slowly during this project. Driveways should be accessible except when the contractor is working in front of a house.
The Town is using a new improved process for resurfacing the streets which is more environmentally friendly because less heat is used as it is applied and more cost effective. The only difference residents may notice is that the pavement will be a little rougher at first but as the street cures and vehicles drive over the asphalt the road will become smooth.
