The Matthews Police Department is asking for your help in locating a suspect that is wanted on several felony probation violation warrants, as well as a most recent charge of Resist, Obstruct, Delay of a Law Enforcement Officer. On Thursday July 26, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m., Matthews Officers attempted to make contact with Mr. Philip Joseph Gillespie (DOB 12/15/1986) in the 200 of S. Freemont St. Mr. Gillespie fled on foot where Officers attempted to locate him in several different areas with the assistance of CMPD’s Helicopter Unit. He was last seen at approximately 4:36 p.m. in the area of the Matthews Reserve Apartments on Sam Newell Rd. wearing a black t-shirt, blue shorts and black tennis shoes. He is described as a white male, 6’00” tall, weighing approximately 140 lbs. with a thin build, short brown hair, and brown eyes. Residents in the area where he was last seen should not be alarmed as we have no reason to believe that anyone is in danger.
