Speed Limit Changes Coming to Matthews

The Matthews Board of Commissioner recently voted to make several changes to speed limits around Matthews.
 
The Matthews Board of Commissioner recently voted to make several changes to speed limits around Matthews:

The speed limit on East Charles Street will drop from 35 to 25 mph from Trade Street to Tank Town Road. This goes into effect on September 1. 

On Sam Newell Road in front of Crestdale Middle School – the entire school zone limits will be shifted to 35 mph, and 25 mph during bell times (8:30 am to 9:00 am, and 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm, on school days).

On Trade Street, the speed limit of 25 mph will be extended to Country Place Drive. 

On Sardis Road, the maximum speed will be 40 mph from Matthews Township Parkway extending north to the Town limits.

The new speed limit signs will be installed on East Charles Street on September 1. NCDOT is responsible for installing the signs on Sam Newell Rd, S Trade St, and Sardis Rd.
