On Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at approximately 11:12 p.m., a Matthews officer assigned to the Patrol Division attempted to perform a traffic stop on E. John St. near Charles Buckley Way.  The driver sped away and was driving recklessly before losing control and crashing into some brush at the end of Selma Burke Ln.  The male driver then jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the nearby woods while two female passengers remained inside. 

The Matthews Police K-9 Unit responded to the scene and was able to track and locate the driver in the woods.  The driver was arrested and identified as Mr. Terry Lee Taylor of Matthews.  Upon further investigation, one of the female passengers was found to have four outstanding arrest warrants as well as currently in the possession of illegal narcotics.  There were no other vehicles involved in the crash and no injuries reported.

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Ms. Dana Thompson Luther (DOB – 10/29/1984) of Pineville.

Charges:

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia;

Possession of Heroin.

Outstanding warrants for arrest for:

Driving While Impaired;

Driving While License Revoked;

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia;

Receive Stolen Goods/Property.
